Hi ya Nick,

What your looking for is a file syncronization program of which there are several good examples of. I use one called 'Switchback' that I came across at version tracker. Got a great rating and has been around for a long time.

There are others, such as 'Sync'. But they seem to work no better and cost more.

You can either download from version tracker or Download.com (good part is you get the downloads rated by the many folks who've tried them) or you can go directly to the developer at: http://webnz.com/glendower/

OSX compatible (sort of, since OSX compatibility is a moving target currently)

If you are using OSX, you could add a command line copy instruction to your crontab (which executes daily, weekly, and monthly), to copy your home dir to your FireWire drive.

Here's a cron/command line tutorial from the Bob Vila of technical How-To: http://www.oreillynet.com/pub/a/mac/2001/12/14/terminal_one.html
