View Full Version : Quicktime codec not found?

seems alot of new avi and mpeg files quicktime will not play. The codec or compressor is not found. Any Mac software capable of opening these files? Belong to an automotive list and get alot of clips of drag racing and dyno runs. Quicktime 4 and 5 pro versions will not play the video. Hate having to play them on Virtual PC.

In order to play AVI movies, you will need to go to the QuickTime page on Apple's Web site and download Intel Raw Video, Indeo Video, Indeo Video 4, and Indeo Video 5.

The Indeo Video 2 CODEC was never ported to the Mac. These movies cannot be played on the Mac without a Windows emulator.
The DIVX /AVI MPEG CoDEC also is not available in a release version; to play these AVIs, you need the Windows Media Player (available from Microsoft) and the beta DIVX software.

Thanks Lee,

I do have all the Indeo video extensions loaded (3,4 and 5). Really didn't want to install the Windoz player.

Will look through the links you sent.
