View Full Version : Write-Through mode on Powerlogix G3

I am running an older PowerLogix G3 card (3 green rotary switches). I have also installed their latest control panel, G3/G4 Cache Profiler.
While there are many reasons my PTP 200 could be unstable, I have never figured out what write-through mode is (and does, for that matter). It is an option in the G3/G4 Cache profiler software. Should it be enabled and does it have a serious potential to cause problems if changed?

Thanks, John

If you are not experiencing problems you should stay with the "write back" option. Write thru enabling will force certain write functions to be written to the main memory instead of the much faster backside cache. In some situations write thru can provide more stability but will also slow things down consciderably.
