Does anybody know what the deal is on processor upgrades on the sawtooth G4? I'm runnin a G4 400 and would like to go to a 667 or dual 500s. I've heard a summer announcement with a winter release. Will they be hot rod friendly? Kinda in the dark here. Thanks. http://www.macgurus.com/ubb/confused.gif

Hi Serp. One of the Guru's will be along eventually to give you an informed answer.

It's not neccesary to post a question more than once. If you post....they will come.

Extra posts just make cleanup work for these very busy guys.

Nothing yet from XLR8. Sonnet has announced, yet to ship, "first product in a dual processor product line for Power Mac G4 AGP Graphics (Sawtooth) machines called the Encore/ST G4 Duet‘. This card is comprised of dual 500 MHz processors, each with its own 1MB/250MHz backside cache. Sonnet will ship the first cards in February for a suggested price of $999.95. With a design that is plug-compatible with Apple’s dual processor design, the Encore/ST G4 Duet will upgrade any AGP Graphics G4 machine to the equivalent of Apple’s dual 500 system." More info here http://www.sonnettech.com/product/encore_st.html and Gurus will have them, I think, when available. Certain issues with existing Sonnet cards here http://www.macgurus.com/shoppingcart/showrampage.cgi?sonnet.html as Sonnet upgrades are not compatible with most audio and video editing solutions. k

right. We will carry them, but we will also test them.

We're just waiting for them to actually ship before we list them.
