View Full Version : Do I need to replace my hard drive?

A few months ago I was using my disc utility and my main hard drive s.m.a.r.t. status read as "about to fail". I ran the disc utility off the 10.3 disc and it then stated "verified" and has ever since. Since that time occasionally (at least 1 to 2x daily I get a whole system crash. The console log reads as: Unresolved kernel trap(cpu 0): 0x300 - Data access DAR=0x000000002509F18C PC=0x0000000000093B00
Latest crash info for cpu 0:

I have run tech tools, disc warrior and norton system works and all have "repaired" any problems. I have even clean installed 10.3 without avail. I have a Quicksilver G4 867 MHz 1.5G RAM. The CPU 0 is a Maxtor 5T060H6 (60 G). I have also installed a second hard drive (80G Seagate) about 2 years ago. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

why don't you install 10.3 on your 2nd drive and see if it comes up with the same error.

Actually I had installeed 10.3 on my second drive and things work fine (no crashes). I'm starting to believe I will have to replace this drive, but my hope is that somebody might have some advice. Thanks!
