Howdy folks -

Having a weird problem with an external CD-RW. Currently trying to use it (an external LaCie / Yamaha CDRW) with a beige G3. I'm trying to use it as a temporary replacement to the internal CD (which is slowly dying...and will soon be replaced).

Here's the problem - it burns okay with Toast 5, but CD's which are inserted for reading are not showing up on the desktop. Thought it was just the cheapie CD-R's that were the problem, but even the honest-to-goodness professional CD's don't show up.

This external CD-RW works just ducky on the 7500 w/G3 upgrade sitting across the desk from it.

Any ideas? http://forums.macgurus.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

Do both machines have drivers for the CDRW drive installed? All cables tight? -Randy

Success!

I checked the extensions and saw that the standard Mac CD/DVD driver was there, no problems with that.

So I looked through the files that were on the 7300 vs. what was on the Beige G3, and came upon the Toast CD Reader extension.

Once I copied it into the extensions folder on the Beige G3, everything started showing up.

Problem solved! Thanks for the help!
