View Full Version : XLR8 Upgrade-Now G3 Doesn't wake up

08-22-2001, 12:30 PM
I just upgraded a beige G3 desk top (OS8.6, 384M of guru RAM & 64M of Mac Mall Ram, Initio MIles 2, MOTU PCI324 audio card)
with an XLR8 500MHZ G4 daughtercard
and it rules for adding audio plugins in a native MOTU environment BUT...
when I put the computer to sleep the green front panelight blinks about a half dozen times and then stays out,
when I try to wake it up...nothing! I then have to use the front panel on/off switch in order to shut off the G3
and then I can restart it from the keyboard which then results in the "you didn't shut down your computer properly" message.

I spoke to XLR8 and they had me update to their ver2.5 control panel but that did not help
and the only other thing they could suggest was doing a clean install of OS8.6 ( a pain in the butt on any given day)
Anyone have a suggestion or similar experience?

hey, ray, did you ever get this sorted out?

did you try nuking the Energy Saver prefs? Zapping PRAM?

Not yet...I did trash the prefs file but it did not help

I need to gather my wits (or pref files :-D) before I reset my PRAM or do a clean install of 8.6
so I have not tried those yet.
Anything else I could do in the meantime?

You might want to look here http://www.macfixit.com/reports/macos8.6-a.shtml both Part I and II and search each for sleep. k
