View Full Version : Chicken or the Egg?

I've got a bit of a chick or egg situation going on here. I have a G3 upgraded PowerCenter 150 that has a dead CD Rom drive and I've had to do a low level reformat and re installation of all my software. No problem though since I've got an external Yamaha CD writer. Problem though, I need the Toast Reader extension to drive it and it's on a CD. My other 2001 G4 doesn't have a floppy or I'd copy it to that. Tried to email it to me but when I get the attachment it is no longer recognized as an extension file and has %20 where there should be spaces in the tost reader extension name. I can't seem to find anywhere to download the toast reader extension. I can find updates to toast, but since I don't have toast loaded yet an update is not going to do me any good.

Any thoughts on how I can drive the Yamaha CD burner long engough so I can read CD ROMs and load my software?

I guess you dont have a ZIP drive to boot off of?

Perhaps a hacked Apple driver or CD-ROM SpeedTools/Toolkit?

Use stuffit to "stuff" the reader extension...then unstuff it.

Intech has a ten restart demo of Speedtools:

That should get you through your installations.
