Hello All, When ever I try to connect to another computer on our network, using the Chooser the system freezes and I have to force it to restart. I've tried re-installing the OS (this has worked in the past) but no luck this time.
I can connect to other terminals with the Network Browser (sometimes) It's a beige G3 OS 8.6. Any ideas on how to fix?

try zapping your pram.

Does the computer see printers on the network?

I would also update open transport. Check versiontracker.com

could be a physical problem with the ethernet cable, or the connector.

replace the cable, too.

Yes the computer does "see" printers. Hsve tried different cables to no avail.
I will try the pram suggestion and see if that helps.

In your Preferences Folder, trash AppleShare Prep.

And yet another undocumented trick:

The Chooser prefs are written to the Chooser app just as a desk accessory does like your calculator or key caps. To clear them you need to hold down the Cmd-Opt keys as you open the Chooser. This clears a cache within the Chooser. If it works you may hear a system alert (maybe not with all OS) when it opens. k

yet again, I bow in your general direction.
