so I'm about to receive my new G4 laptop, and I'd like to take all the files/programs from my old beige G3 All in One as cheaply and quickly as possible. This is not a permanent networking situation, just a one time, dump it all, and disconnect. I believe I can accomplish this with a two-way ethernet cord, setting the IP addresses manually and then sharing one of the computers and searching for it on the other one, BUT I cannot for the life of me find a "two-way" ethernet cable. Am I completely halucinating this concept? Or is there an easier way. I am fairly competent with macs, and so a long solution is fine if it saves some money. Any input would be great. Thanks in advance,

Diq

See Transfering files from G3 to G4 (http://www.macgurus.com/ubb/Forum19/HTML/000785.html) and it should be a snap.

ahhh, crossover cable, I was close, well not really. I knew it could be done, thanks for the tip, I've read through the post, and I think I've got it, although I won't find out until next week when my new pb shows (hehe gonna be nice going from a 233 G3 --> 867 G4 http://macgurus.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif). Thanks Jazzbo, I appreciate it.
