I have a Seagate Barracude IV in my 867, obviously ATA-100 and 7200 RPM. I just received my secong one today and I looked at the firmware listed on the new Seagate Barracuda IV and it says 3.19, my old Seagate say 3.05. I can't fing any firmware updates on their site.

Also, does it even matter that they match up? I know it won't in general use but I was thinking more for RAID. Should it matter with anything?

Thanks.

You can't update the drive's firmware. Does it matter? Identical firmware is one of the "specs" for RAIDing. However I've stripe RAIDed Seagate SCSI drives that are exactly the same model number but different firmware versions without any problems showing up short or long term. The firmware spec seems to be the least important, or not at all important, of them all. k
