The DVD-R/CD-RW (the Superdrive) are available on the new Macs now. Are there any DVD-R/CD-RW combo drives available for those of us who cannot afford a whole new Mac? If there are, does anyone know how they perform?

Check out http://www.xlr8yourmac.com - there they have discussed various versions that are available...
Check their drive database for comments

we have access to an $979.99 unit from EZQ, part number K43600, DVD-CDRW Combo FireWire Ext w Toast Platinum. It is not yet on the main site, but will be shortly. (I need to nuke old pages and post new ones--i just finally got the Aurora Igniter page updated last week).
