Exhalted Gurus,
Gossamer G3 266 Rev B, DVD ROM , 2930CU SCSI, USB card, 768MB RAM. Regarding the lower drive bay in the front of the box next to the CD ROM drive . When the drive sled satisfyingly "clicks in" the sled and the drive extend beyond the architecture of the box! Why is this. Also, I have a new ATA 100 IDE drive. Will upgrading my cables result in a significant increase in through put. If so what cables will I need.

Hmm... as for the drive make sure there its screwed on correctly to the drive sled and there isn't anything broken on the mounting area.

Upgrading your cables will not really increase perfomance (well...maybe if they are really good cables you could gain some speed). Your new hard drive will give you a big speed boost anyways, but for extra speed, if you have a spare PCI slot, I recommend a PCI ATA card. I have used the VST Ultratek/66 PCI card in my own configurations and it is fast. It would definately boost speeds much above that of your stock ATA controller on the motherboard. Good luck!

Thanks for the info, I'll look into the card, I've got one slot left. Jammin' PS 6.0 with this mac and looking for affordable speed.
Re: Lower drive bay at the front of the box¨Ů the sled itself, without the drive mounted, extends beyond the case! hmm
