I have SoftRAID lying around here from my VST Ultratek/66 PCI card, and wanted to know if there is any benefit from using the SoftRAID driver on my single 46GB IBM Deskstar 75GXP connected to the Ultratek in a Powermac 8600 over the Apple hard disk driver from the MacOS 9 CD. Any extra speed? reliability features?

I doubt it. Even if there were extra speed you probably could not see this in actual use. I only use SoftRAID for stripping drives... The only time I will use SR on a single drive is if the Apple drivers do not work. This only happened on an old WDigitial SCSI.
