View Full Version : Connecting ATA/3 to ATA/66 bus

I have a G4/466 at work and some spare drives - 4GB IDE/ATA from an upgrade of other systems. I wanted to know if adding an ATA/3 to the stock HD bus would slow down the master (ata/66/100) drive? and/or drop the whole bus down to ATA/3 - like SCSI (adding a UW SCSI drive to an U160 SCSI card http://www.macgurus.com/ubb/eek.gif )?

I guess I could hook it up to my DVD bus.. is that ATA/3?

So long and thanks for all the fish!

I don't think it matters to ATA like it does SCSI, but I've never tried it.

Check this thread http://www.macgurus.com/ubb/Forum26/HTML/000056.html . How did I get into ATA?

The Ripper has no idea about ATA. The Ripper's main Book of Choice covers only SCSI. The Ripper is sorry he could not be of more assistance.
