Most Noble Sages!
If I know you, and I don't, you probably know the best utility
for initializing and partitioning a hard drive. I would appreciate the information. Especially now that OS X won't load onto a HD in a beige G3 that is larger than 8GB unless the the first partition is less than 8GB,and assuming said HD is not SCSI and provided you have removed all third
party cards, SCSI, USB, RAID, etc. and it may not boot anyway. whew!

If you are doing it for the purpose of installing OS X, I'd say that you best use Apple Drive Setup.

I have a 4GB parition for 9 and another 4GB for X and rest for data - on my G4/466 Sawtooth. I would definately recommend installing the two on separate paritions.

For some reason 9 always crashs on boot when I try to launch it from X... but other wise its fine.

I re-installed X, but first erased the partition. I then isntalled 9.1, X, DEV Tools and the updates. It runs GREAT! http://macgurus.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I still use 9.1 on the main (Classic ONLY) partition most of the time.
