I just ordered a 60 gig drive

Maxtor 5400 rpm

I'm wondering if later I can get another ide controller, and have a RAID 0 for faster throughput?

Yes, this is possible.

Wiht a PCI IDE/ATA controller you can use SoftRAID. Its kind of a hack, but it does work. I'm not sure how much the speed will improve... I dont think it would be like SCSI. You still get the full benifit of a 120GB volume. You can parition it out as well (boot, apps, scratch, data, etc...), if you want.

I assume the title of your post refers to the RPM of the drive and not an OLD PMAC 5400, right?

SCSI is better, but IDE/ATA is a great value.
