I'm looking to build a Deskstar RAID inside a PowerMac 8600. I've got the VST Ultratek board, currently on 46GB IBM Deskstar 75GXP drive, and will get another of an alotted size. I will also be getting some Granite Digital two device ATA cables too. I'd like to have the two drives stacked on top of eachother on the bottom of the case, and I've seen the special 2-drive RAID brackets for the bottom of the case, and they run up to $85. Then there are two drive brackets for the G4s, and they say "ONLY FOR USE IN POWERMAC G4 GRAPHITE TOWERS", and those brackets are $13. Do you think it would be possible to just screw the G4 dual drive bracket to the bottom of the case? The screw hole positions seem standard. Here's a picture of the "G4 ONLY" $13 bracket- http://store5.yimg.com/I/buyproline_1633_1918 , and one of the $85 PowerMac bracket- http://store5.yimg.com/I/buyproline_1632_323154 . It looks to me like the $13 one would work, even if I could have to drill a few holes. If I need the official "PowerMac 8600-9600-G3 MT" bracket, do you carry it here at MacGurus? And is it cheaper than that of Proline.com?

That's a 3 drive RAID bracket? Wow. I never thought you could stuff that many drives into this machine.
