View Full Version : ide dos partition

I've got an ide dos-format 8 gig drive that I have plugged into my gossamer G3 333. I can't read the files on it. I need these files. File Exchange can't seem to help me.

What can I do?

one thought - you might try something like DosMounter (or MultiMounter) from Software Architects.. we use it to mount up removable media (i.e. MO's) that are DOS formatted...I think the key might be to install the software w/o the drive installed on the IDE cable, then shutdown, put the drive in as a slave and then reboot and see if the extension loads and mounts the drive. The other (more expensive) option is to maybe put into a USB or Firewire external case and have DosMounter mount it as a removable media.

Worse case, and if you have a network, install it on a PC, set up FileSharing on the PC and using any number of approaches (including setting up a FTP server on your PC), copy over the files to your Mac.

Hope this helps.
