Does any one have any suggestions? I notice there seem to be a lot of internal scsi CD writers available for PC's but the compatability with the mac seems differ depending on reseller. Basically, help.

Here you go: http://www.macgurus.com/shoppingcart/showrampage.cgi?mgscsicdromdrives.html

The Plextor PlexWriter 12/10/32 SCSI CD-RW (internal) would work for you...

The 8600 has only a "SCSI" interface for hard disk drives and CDROMs. if you have not modified your 8600, you require a SCSI flavored CD burner.

Be certain NOT to buy a writer with an interface called ATA, IDE, EIDE, USB, oor FireWire.
