I have a biege G3 desktop 266MHZ and I want to install a extra hardrive
ide style. Can it be in the same buss as the cd rom? Also some one recommended that I look in my system profiler to find out which rev. I have to determine whether or not I can have two devices on the same buss, but there was no information regarding this in my system profiler. I did however determine I have a rage pro pci chip which I guess?, is an indication that I have a rev.B. Thankyou any one.

First I recommend that you check the revision in your system profiler. If ROM = 77D.40F2, then rev. 1.
If ROM=77D.45F1, the rev. 1. My own G3266 Desktop is Rev. 1, and the second internal drive must be a SCSI.
However, I solved my problem by buyng Sonnet Ultra ATA66 adapter card, and now will install a second
IDE in the upper bay. The instructions say it will be on the SCSI bus, but it will function as IDE.
Since fast, high capacity IDE drives are cheap, I decided to go this route.
I hope this helped.
