I guess spidermonkey sparked an interest, but just out of curiosity, does anyone know of any cheap 3D modeling software out there? pref. under 5 billion dollars http://macgurus.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Infini-D and Strata Studio Pro spring to mind.

They have decent modeling and raytracing render engines.
They are between $3-600 dollars each.

Unfortunately Infini-D is no longer around though because all of the smaller 3D companies merged (Specular, Fractal Design, Meta Creations, and a few other even smaller ones). They are now ViewPoint and sold off the programs to various vendors. Their 3D modelers (Infini-D, RayDream) all got rolled into Carrara 1.0, then promptly discontinued with no current support and an undisclosed buyer. (www.metacreations.com (http://www.metacreations.com))
If you can find a copy of Infini-D or RayDream on E-Bay or surplus, it's a good start. Both are similar and both have rendering capabilities

Stata is good though and still updated/supported.

Nothing else comes to mind though on the semi-cheap level.
