I encountered at least one problem while playing with OS 9.1 on a 6110 with a Newer G3/300 upgrade. It boots fine but will not allow you to select a different startup disk. When you try you get a Type 10 error. You either have to disable the Newer extension or start with extensions off to select a different disk. Any suggestions?

You using the updated Startup Disk CP? It's at version 9.2.1 now. The 9.1 version killed my systems repeatedly if I tried to select a new Startup Disk. Try that, then we'll go from there.

Wow! Now that's service. I'll try that when I get home. I assumed it was a Newer issue. Thanks.

I download the new version of Startup Disk and make the mistake of replacing (not saving) the old version with the newer one. Guess what? I get an error message stating that Startup Disk can only be obtained from the original medium (can't be copied or something to that effect) and my only option is to restart. Checkmate - the infinite loop. Of course I left the OS disk at work. I'll try a clean reinstall tonight or tomorrow. Any sugestions?

I'm assuming that you went straight to apple to download it huh? When I updated I just used the software update control panel, it did it's thing, and restarted. No problems.

I went to apple but didn't use the software update control panel. Old habits die hard I guess. I'll try that after the reinstall.

My thanks to both of you. The problem was the Startup Disk version and I did have to install it with the software updater control panel. Works perfectly.

Alright! That's what matters...it works.

BTW, the new Startup Disk CP v9.2.1 is actually an application now. If you are getting the spinning beach ball (I have something like 8 or 9 OS system folders on various drives in my PTP) for a lengthy wait, try assigning more memory to the app. No wait anymore. k
