Hi s. d., in your post you said "i want to get the internal scsi dvdram".

What scsi dvdram would that be? Which SCSI protocol does it operate under, or what manufacturer and model is it?

Please, forgive me for putting words in your mouth, but it sounds like what you want to say is.......(?) I have a beige g3 minitower, and I want to put an internal SCSI dvd-ram drive in it. Can you make any recomendations?.....etc...

One of the other guys can tell you what sort of goodies you'll need to make the installation work. Where is the extra bay in your computer? Take your time....patiently ask questions. The support on this site is pretty wonderful!!!

Best to you,

Aaaahhhhh. Show's you how much I'm paying attention.

I'm not sure your biege g3 Minitower is SCSI......I think it might be ATA/IDE.

Which storage interface protocol did you snag?

The beige G3 has two ATA channels and a SCSI-2 (5 MB/sec) external bus, which has a 50 pin connector on the logic board.

he'll be fine. DVD-RAM does not require a lot of bandwidth.

you may want a bezel kit, though. Look on the parts page, you'll see what you need. If you don't already have an internal SCSI cable, we can help there, too.

finally, you will probably want CD/DVD SpeedTools. It seems like a lot, but it's all very commonsensical.

If you mean CD-ROM Toolkit, you need to check their website to see whether it will work with your DVD-RAM drive and whether it will work with the OS you are running. k

I have no idea whether FWB CDT supports DVD. I have a feeling we'll know shortly.

The DVD-RAM works great! the only problem is that new bezel looks too NEW, and my dingey "beige" G3 has bright stripe on it. However, i noticed w/ a red light, i cannot tell the difference. I am so happy that this is my ONLY problem!
Have not tried to play any dvd movies on it. Was able to back up PTLE session of 5 songs, 4.2 Gigs in less than an hour!
thanx gurus

excellent!

you can use cleaning sprays on your Mac....we used to wipe them down with rubbing alcohol in the old days, I guess because it evaporated cleanly. It is possible to spruce them up so they look new.
