I need to get a few answers to my questions on recognizing this drive.
I've bought a Miles2 and Seagate Cheetah (ST318404LW) from Macgurus. All
installation seems to be going fine. I still have my original 2GB HD
connected where it origianlly was in the internal SCSI chain (original), as well as the original CD-ROM in my PCPower Center 150 minitower.

The Miles2 is being recognized by Miles 2 SmartSCSI Utility that came on
CD, so I know the PCI slot is working. Only problem is the 18.4 GB HD I
installed is NOT being recognized. It neither mounts or shows up in any
SCSI Utility I've tried. All connectors are tight and seem to work.

If you could explain what I might need to do in plain (stupid-guy)
English, I'd appreciate it. I'm not sure I understand how to give the
drive a SCSI ID (I don't understand why there are gray and black
jumpers). The drive is on, and running, but nothing is showing up.

I'd appreciate your help just as soon as possible, Thanks!

It must be initialized by SoftRAID before it will mount, and you need to install the driver for it to become a volume.

Run the SoftRAID software from the other drive. It will "see" the drive.

make sure you update SoftRAID to 2.2.2!
