I have a Dual 450 G4. When opening homeburned CDs it takes an extrodinarily long time for an image to appear on the desktop and when it finally appears it is difficult to get a window to open and occasionally freezes up the system. This never happens with manufactured CDs only w/ homeburns. Any ideas? BTW, Ive been using the budget blank CD-Rs...could this be a prob?

could be. You may want to try another brand of media, and see if you get better results with something else.

frankly, I'm as guilty of this as you are--I just pick up whatever's on special at Staples. As long as it is rated 8x, I get it. I have had cause to regret it, too. Some old CD's we have burned gradually "faded" to a point where they are no longer readable.

yup!

the moral of this tale is clear.
