I've got a 400mhz iMacDV with an ATI Rage Pro and I've been considering upgrading the video card, but I have no idea what's possible, or recommended. Anyone able to help me out here?

You can't, because the Rage Pro VR and video RAM are soldered to the motherboard.

The only video upgrades possible for an iMac are:

1.) Adding 4MB VRAM to a Rev. A or Rev. B iMac

2.) The Game Wizard, a discontinued (but still available if you know where to look) Voodoo2 card that works only in a Rev. A iMac's mezzanine slot. Even then, it only accelerates 3D.

I've been looking for a Game Wizard for a revision A iMac. Where can they be found???

i may have one in the basement. I got it for my son as a surprise, then he showed up with a later revision iMac--one that lacked the mezzanine slot.

what are they selling for on eBay? Or better, what do you have to trade?

I haven't been able to find one on eBay. However, I did find earlier in the week on eBay PCI Voodoo cards going for about $20. I don't think I have anything worth trading - I've got a UMAX SCSI scanner if you're interested. Otherwise, name a price and maybe we can work something out.

You can email ne directly at clmacman@attbi.com.
