Does anyone know how these two products compare? I looking to speed up encoding video a little bit. There seems to be two options as far as I can tell for th G4 quicksilver. Either Discreets 'Mpeg Supercharger' or Matrox's 'RTMac' card. Any help is greatly greatly appreciated.

Okay, I've done some more research myself on these products and I've discovered that the RTMAC is for acquiring but not for encoding like the MPEG Supercharger. The MPEG supercharger does hardware acceleration for MPEG-2, but as far as I can tell, not for MPEG-1. There's also a software version called MPEG Charger, which utilizes the G4 velocity engine architecture.

Nonetheless, I'm looking for a way to accelerate encoding of quicktime and windows media files, which I've found no solution for. Does anyone have any clues. Currently I'm trying to compress a 1-1/2 hour videos. It takes about 45 hours to do it....much too long. aaaaahhhh!
