Hello,

Just wondering if anyone knows of a dual monitor card that would work on the PowerMac 9600....

I usually check on this every few months in the hope that one has become available, but as of about 6 months ago, I knew of none. I recall one vendor, since out of business, but the card was very unstable I was told.

Thanks in advance

For the PCI machines, I think you might be out of luck.. The AGP Macs have the Appian (http://www.macgurus.com/shoppingcart/obj_show_page.cgi?mgvideoadapters8.html)
and or the ProMax G450 option (http://www.promax.com)

It's unfortunate too since I'm also looking...you might have to use up a precious PCI slot I suppose...

That is the problem, I have no more available slots. This workstation houses a Digidesign Pro Tools recording system, for which DSP Farm cards are inserted into all the slots.

Thanks

Bummer...

It's too bad that the video circuitry in a laptop that allows you to create an "extended desktop" using the built-in LCD and an external monitor can't be somehow morphed into a desktop system...

Chris.

You might look at Virtual Desktop here http://www.magma.ca/~awolsp/

It is freeware and has not been updated since 1998 I think, just says it is compatible thru OS9. I don't have a PCI card that has a virtual/extended desktop builtin as an option but my old NuBus video card does and that feature works great. Just move your cursor over to one side edge or the other and the whole screen desktop scrolls horizontally. k
