Drew; I don't know. After Apple came out of the dark ages two years ago to join the VGA crowd, they since have produced TWO different and unusual connectors for flat panel, LCD displays.

I can't point to an exact URL, but Mike Breeden has had a lot to say on this subject. Try a search at http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/ .

Also try a TIL search at Apple's site.

Didn't Griffin or somebody finally come out with an adapter for this?

I also thought it was listed on the Apple website?

hmmm.

I think Apple sells an adapter for adapting last year's LCD's to this year's LCD. Drew needs to go back thru a time warp; either to the beige G3's on-board video connector or a VGA connector on a PCI card fom this year's LCD.

This is actually worse than forcing everyone into USB, FireWire, and NO FLOPPY!

It is really strange. It doesn't seem possible to buy two of Apple's new displays. My friend wants a matched set of Apple's 17 Studio Display, but there's no way to adapt an ADC monitor to a non-ADC port (mainly for power reasons I gather) and there are no ADC cards that will work outside the AGP port that I can see.

After calling Griffen,Apple,Belkin, etc.I have found that there is no way to attach 2 new Apple studio displays to the new G4.
Apple says that they can't install 2 NVIDIA cards because it would draw to much power. The new displays pull power through the connector. I sent back the 15" LCD display.Guess I'll buy a non Apple.

Thank for all your feed back

But the original question was about connecting a new Studio Display to a beige G3. Can that be done?

At this point NO. Everyone I talked to had no solution for attaching a new display to the beige G3.Again the power issue!
That question came about when I thought I would attach one of the new Apple displays to the G3 and move my 21" mitsubishi to the G4.
