Are these cards listed on MacBid $65 for a good reason or would my 7600 benefit greatly with one installed.

Hey Nicolaus,

They were good cards in their day. You won't find any tech support anymore and there is nobody to write driver updates for future OS versions since IxMicro is defunct. The card is generations behind current cards with fill rates less than a third of current cards. You will definitely notice a difference if you are using the stock onboard video in your 7600, especially in 2D scrolling.

Mac's right. I would add that I'm not sure that they are worth $65. You should be able to do better on an old card on eBay.

For $65 you ought to be able to find a new Voodoo 3-2000 which will eat the ixMicro for lunch.

those cards are worth about $15, or less, IMO.

Thank you. I think I will stick to my original plan and try to convince someone to get me the ForMac card for X-Mas.

I saw some GAMEROCKETs for sale... I think they were about $100... looks like its a V2-Banshee (67% of the speed of a REAL V2 + 2D video). Well its a slot saver anyway, but I think $60 would be the MAX I would pay.

Outpost.com also has the OBSIDIAN V2s (24MB) for the CRAZY price of $550 http://www.macgurus.com/ubb/eek.gif - its basically a V3 with a little more VRAM and it probably draws more power than a V5.

I guess you got the card?
