OK, I am not a big gammer but I see that many of you go play UT - figured I might as well try - I have the DSL and QS 733. First what can you tell me about the game - clues, hints, websites. I tried the demo lastnight and WOW - What a rookie. I can't run, walk, shoot, aim, jump.... I get the crap blown out of me. http://macgurus.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif I do not have a joystick.

Are there other interactive games that do not require the fast paced skill level that most do? I am beyond Cribbage at Yahoo - so something in the middle.

Got my buns kicked

Hi, sorry for the late posting. I'm not sure this is helpful but along with UT , I also occasionally play Diablo II / Lord of Distruction. Diablo requires more patience than speed so you might enjoy that.
p.s. I never tried the UT demo, but the retail game has a selection where you can choose the difficulty level. By starting at a lower level you may be able to enjoy UT as well. I dont use a joystick either. I tried one but lost response speed, so I went back to using the mouse on my 8500/G3 500

I'll try Diablo.

I found the controls and turned UT into a wimp game - now I can kick some butt. After getting used to it I cranked it back up spme. After changing run/jump/shoot..... button settings things work better and I can play at thier level - sorta.

Thanks
Randy

We must have posted at about the same time. Yes the demo has difficulty settings. It is a great demo - one worth playing learning and making me want to buy the full version.

Thank god - or I would be a blown up piece of meat.

Hi All

First of all here is a sight I made for UT and getting a few more frame rates from your video card
http://www.macmeisters.com/Damien/

I tried a joystick and hated it as well I now use my mouse in my right for pointing and shooting while my left hand is on the keyboard arrows for movement I have the control button as my jump button and my little finger rests on it

I have found (through extensive experience) that lying face down in a puddle of your own blood is where you get your HIGHEST frame rates. http://macgurus.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

How about X-Plane? Anyone have that? If so, what do you recommend for a joystick or yoke, throttle, and pedals? I have version 6 of X-Plane which claims to only be compatible with USB stuff but I noted someone who hacked ADB hardware to work with version 6.

Right now I'm using a USB trackball and the keyboard. It's hilarious and works but I would like something better. I do have a CH USB GameStick 3D off of eBay, have not tried it yet, but am looking for something more exotic that someone says works. k
