PB 1400 Memory!

While some of the products mentioned on this page may no longer be available, the information about these products remains available to those who may need it.

The PowerBook modules on this page are specifically designed to support:

Note: PowerBook 1400's have two memory expansion slots.

The Apple Factory RAM slot will be filled with either a 4MB or 8MB module, yielding a base factory configuration (including 8MB's of soldered motherboard RAM) of either 12MB or 16MB.

All modules on this page are designed to be installed in the Customer RAM slot, and all modules are consequently stackable with other modules. No warranties are made or implied as to their stackability with modules produced by other manufacturers. (We can control our engineering and quality control, but we have no influence over theirs).

The maximum configuration of 64MBs is attainable by stacking two (2) 24MB modules in the Customer RAM slot, assuming your PB1400 begins with an 8MB module in the Apple Factory RAM slot. The 48MB module above is indeed comprised of two matched and stacked 24MB modules preconfigured for easy installation. For other configuration options, specifications, and configuration guidance, please see the PowerBook 1400 motherboard schematic.

If you require further assistance, please feel free to contact a MacGurus support engineer.

Model number links above point to logic board diagrams elsewhere on this website. The diagrams may be useful to experienced Macintosh users in identifying significant motherboard landmarks and memory expansion slots. You may also wish to review the Apple Product Data Sheet for this computer.

If you are in doubt about your ability to handle sensitive electronic components, and particularly if you doubt your ability to manipulate the delicate plastics characteristic of PowerBooks in general, please contact your local authorized Apple dealer. Don't void your warranty!
