Giga
Designs M5D-1213Q G-Celerator DUAL 1.33 GHz in a Digital Audio G4
III.
System Benchmarks
Startup Time:
I recorded startup times from:
- System logs
- Stopwatch - at startup (not restart) from startup chime until a
window appeared
in the Finder. (Avg. 3 runs)
Before timing, I cleared out the caches and restarted 3 times to insure
proper rebuilding. Then, I
tracked startup times with a stopwatch and logs.

XBench:
I provide XBench
scores just for main
tests but include the 'Spinning Square
- FPS' in the OpenGL Test.
Note: Final scores are low
because of the Disk Test, further comments below. Final scores are best
used for before and after Giga comparisons, not against the XBench
database; but individual scores not impacted by the Disk Test might be
compared.

*XBench's OpenGL Graphics Test should probably be taken with a grain of
salt. The best score I've ever achieved was 176.32 (spinning squares
123.39 fps) with a Rage 128 (!?!)
in a Cube with a GigaDesigns M7-1213N 1.3GHz. More graphics
tests coming up in Part IV.
**Disk Test results are rather low because I used the boot volume: 3d
and last partition (15 GB) of the 120GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.7. With
Giga/9600
combo, Disk Test scores are over 110 if I use the first partition on
that HD or an older Barracuda IV, which pushes the Final score over
150. I've seen a Final score of 164 when using a Seagate Cheetah
15K.3 on an OEM ATTO UL3D for the Disk Test (Disk Test score 167).
